The Grand Sirenis was the absolute worst resort we've ever been to. The room smelled overwhelmingly of mould. Then because we were so tired we flopped down on the bed. There was a huge circle of mould on my pillow. Then we went down to the bar which was so crowded you couldn't get service. So we asked to get some room service beers to the room. We were told they didn't allow alcohol in the rooms. This was laughable. Then we decided to leave for the day since we had a car. We were chased down in the parking lot and told we couldn't leave without a "voucher".
It just went on and on and on. They are too busy texting. We've travelled a lot in Mexico and never experienced anything like this.

So we called Westjet Vacations. Although it took a day they were great and transferred us to the Iberostar. It was like night and day! Don't waste your money on the Grand Sirenis when you get have the enjoyment and luxury of the other resorts. It seems like the only people who like It seems like the only people who like it at the Grand Sirenis just haven't been anywhere else.
First, just let me say that I would not call this a 5 star, but that aside, it was very nice, clean and the staff, I cannot say enough. Wendy, the server at the "main" pool was fantastic, Salvador, the bar tender at the beach bar always got my "special" requests right and Charlie kept the fun going day and night. There were a total of ten of us, 6 adults and 4 kids ranging from 5 through 9. The kids loved building sand castles on the beach and playing in the main pool.tiphodemunmy.cf
The lazy river was a blast and we never had a problem getting a tube. We also had no problem finding 6 chairs on the beach or by the pool. I should add that there were a whole lot of people there, 5 weddings I knew of, three of which were between 70 and 90 people each!!!!!

The beach was perfect for anyone young and old explore with lots of old coral both above and below the water. My 7 and 9 year old loved seeing the coral and critters ranging from Iguanas to hermit crabs and giant angel fish. The ability to snorkel at a coral reef right off shore is a major plus. I would recommend water shoes to get over some of the rocks and around some of the local marine life.
When somebody overindulged at the bars, security was there fast to quietly and discreetly escort them back to there room. The room was huge with plenty of room for my family of four. Any issues I had with the room were quickly resolved to my satisfaction. There was no "hole" in the wall, but I cannot see how it would be to big a problem as the bathroom was cavernous with a separate shower stall and throne room. I should add my kids loved the jetted tub with the included bubble bath. The food was ok, we always found something we liked.
Even my very fussy 9 year old always had something to eat. The bacon at breakfast is never ending. All staff understood some English, but as to be expected in a foreign country, some were far more fluent than others. For what it cost, it was a great bang for my buck! I would recommend it in a heart beat. What's with all these kids on a school week? My wife and I don't have any kids, we don't mind kids normally, but we generally try to book our time away when school is in session so we don't have to be inundated with screaming untended little rug rats all over the place.

There had to be over a hundred pre teens and babies all over this place. My wife chastized one kid who was chasing an inguana and poking it with a stick. The parents were standing right there and paid no attention to this kid at all. We're determined to select an Adults Only vacations next time.
As for the resort, once I could look past the kids, it was very nice. Friendly staff, clean resort, comfortable rooms. We were a little disappointed at only being able to take one towel per person from the Toalla Shack. Most of the resorts we've stayed at in the past have allowed unlimited towels at a time.
And the towels were too short to adequately cover the chaise longues, and with only one towel, after a dip I was lying on a wet towel. And if you lose your towel card that is a The food is adequate, though not fancy. The buffet had a fair selection, but it was repetitive. The breakfast bacon was amazing though, more like a bacon jerky, and very meaty.
We enjoyed the Japanese a la carte restaurant and the Cajun, but the Steak house was ordinary. We heard from other people that the Brazilian restaurarnt was spectacular. Don't be too picky about the rooms.
Everything is a 5 minute walk to the hotel lobby. There are short-cut paths thru the jungle and once you learn your way around it is a breeze. They tried to upsell us when we checked in. They wanted We declined. We got building 13, very quiet, away from the noisy pool. Ask for a 3rd floor room. The 1st and 2nd floors in all the buildings are high traffic areas, lots of people moving around in the morning and at night. Snorkelling on the hotel beach is very nice.

Not too crowded in the morning. Some very pretty fish, especially baby sword fish. We took a cab ride over to Akumel beach for Location: Mexico ;. It's a hot day in Mexico's Riviera Maya and I'm sticky with sweat in our air conditioning-free car, en route from our beach house in Tulum to the Gran Cenote, a cave-like swimming hole our trusty Lonely Planet guidebook assures us is worth the effort and entry fee. It's my first time in the region, and I've already fallen head over heels: No mere seaside destination with nothing to do but sip sweet cocktails and lounge in the sun, Mexico's Caribbean coast has plenty to offer the restless traveller, with ruins, reefs, activities and wildlife to keep your attention - and yes, a pretty pale-gold beach, too.
